Louise Whitaker
Louise Whitaker is a senior lecturer in social work and community welfare and coordinates the Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Social Welfare and Bachelor of Community Welfare at Southern Cross University, Australia. She has practiced in mental health social work and managed programs promoting access to justice and developing the cancer workforce. In her research, she favors collaborative practice-based research methods and is interested in mental health social work practice and pedagogy.

Barbara Rugendyke
An Adjunct Professor at Southern Cross University, Barbara Rugendyke’s career included service as Dean and Head of School of Arts and Social Sciences at SCU, Head of School of Arts and Sciences at the Australian Catholic University and Dean of Graduate Studies at the University of New England. An academic Human Geographer for over 25 years, Barbara’s teaching and research has social justice at heart. Her research focuses on community and sustainable development, primarily in indigenous communities, the work of non-government organisations in improving livelihoods, and the advocacy of NGOs with the aim of poverty reduction. Barbara has collaborated with Anglicare North Coast to improve the circumstances of culturally and linguistically diverse women, contributing to reports and journal articles arising from associated research.
